Attended #humanlibrary in Singapore again…
Met the lady who runs a magazine which is trying to fight discrimination of any kind using feminism as base…
Met a German lady married to a Singaporean and heard her story on how she is trying to ensure she fits in the Asian society and her nuanced endeavour for racial assimilation…
Met a women who worked in middle east selling alcohol and she reinforced the belief that women are generally happy in that environment also, and to them women here are sometimes poor little beings who need support! Its all about how you are raised that determines whats ok and judging others based on our value system isnt always accurate…
Met a Vietnamese refugee… Yian sow… Boy, she has a story… 82 people in a small fishing boat with no food and water… Escaping persecution and how the refugee assistance mind set had ensured her survival… And how she has grown from there… A story of how she is the living proof of what accepting all humans as one of us can do…
And last met a Pakistani lady… Being an Indian, always knew we would be similar… But to meet in person and realise that there is almost zero difference between us (except food – since i am a vegetarian and the god we pray to)… And how there would be many like her as well – if we were willing to let go of media rhetoric…
In a nutshell… Entire experience was.. again… How humanity is struggling in its small little ways to be one
