Everything is subjective. There is no real purpose or direction of our life. Our universe and everything in it, including our life is transient – nothing about is transcendental, it is ever moving and evolving in chaos and by chance, without a purpose driven direction. It comes out of nothing before like it and goes into nothing like it… Like time, space and everything is relative…
Whatever you want to think it’s true… Whatever you want to think it’s false… There is no objective world or reality…
Even the physical world we observe with our senses are limited to perception by limits and vagaries of our organs and more importantly the conception of the perceptions are all completely biased and influenced by the imagination and conditioning of our individual minds… And that we have the ability, will / desire to create and believe in our meanings and cosmos…
That collective faith in myths, stories, theories, etc have created moral systems, laws, rules and beliefs in values… Which are many and keep changing over time… And have been created by consciousness and imaginative thinking – a feature unique to us as a species… To enable us to find solace with meaning and have a value system to peacefully coexist and cooperate…
But they are all subjective human constructs imposed as an account of truth and reality – which is absolute hogwash… To the extent that it’s expected to be objective and representative of the one truth… Because there is no one single truth… But it is true for every individual who wants to believe in them and a definite valid measure of their reality and world…
And the proof of everything’s subjectivity is the temporal nature – how everything keeps changing with time and place… How at any given point there are many of them that co-exist…
How it’s beyond logic to prove ones faith… But yet logic can give an internal rational sense to a chosen belief system…
That there is no supposed divine or real single purpose of our life… That we are all really momentary, transient beings… And that there possibly may not be anything when we die left of us nor was anything there where we came into being from… That all the talks of karma, god, divinity are all just one or many beliefs we create to give ourselves a purpose and path to pass our time while alive collectively in a peaceful coexistence… One that is essential but not really true as representative of reality…
That since by account of birth we have energy and a mind and inherently we act… That by our nature we are vulnerable and insecure and need coexistence to survive… That we have evolved out of species where survival by multiplying via reproduction is a core instinct… We are going to do things and need to do it together and have this will to live together… But anything to make it happen is just our tools to sustain our instincts… Not anything that is reflective of the will or representative of any objective reality…
That like true nature of our universe… Things are a chaos from one view and in which you can find patterns and design if you wanted to… And purpose as well if you wished to… But if you wanted to see, you would equally find callousness and trials and errors and constant movement and churn without any definite purpose…
What am I trying to say… Anekantwad of Jainism… Transient nature of our world and existence of Buddhism… Drishti-Shrishti vad of Advait Vedanta… Nihilism of modern western philosophy… Take your pick…
Everything we say as good or bad, true or false, appropriate or inappropriate… Is all subjectively absolutely true… Anything and everything you can possibly say… And hence it is equally objectively false as well…
What is the impact of this subjective mindset?
Devoid of the crutches of being an absolute representation of reality and the single truth, will we lose the will to live, throw our value system in the bin, become desolate – niras and vairagi as called in Hindi… Will we do things which threaten our coexistence…
To be honest that is also a distinct possibility… For believing that nothing is really of any objective value in reality and hence life, coexistence, morals, purpose, goals, etc or life itself… all are hence meaningless… is subjectively true for anyone who goes down that route… That the chase of perpetual bliss via moksh or nirvana is nothing but to cease our existence… So best to not live… Detachment not just from result or action but with life itself…
Or alternatively believe that our nature is transient… That the direction is to keep evolving… And only survival of fittest the best course as per nature to follow… And hence adopt a self centered value system that wants only pleasing of one self… Furthering own interest irrespective of impact on everyone and everything else… Living life with strength till survive as much as possible… That might is right and that the justice is the will of the strong being the mantra… The vulgar bastardisation of Fredriche Neitzsche and Indian Carvak philosophy…
Or maybe it makes one more accepting of everyone’s views and help coexistence… And yet live by their own chosen value system, happy in their own judgements without needing external validation with the knowledge that everything is subjective and hence any non-self based views just futile… That live and let live… Not imposing ones dreams on others… And making no judgements on anyone else… Becoming stithapragnya… Unmoved by results or actions as they are known to really be transient jobs undertaken as part of an equally momentary existence and that one need not require to associate too much with them and keep moving on… Till death… And accept death for what it is… Part of a predefined process… And that nothing that happens between birth and death has any significance or bearing on it… And with that knowledge accept ones reality and cease to exist when the time comes…
Does this theory give any sense of what needs to be done or chosen… No… One can still believe in any theory, religion, morals, values, dreams, purpose, etc that one may wish… No comments or judgements or validation on any… The only thing it says is that any of it is true… And hence nothing also is…
